Fox News commentator Geraldo Rivera tested positive for COVID, he announced Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

“It got me. Despite 2 shots of Moderna + Pfizer booster-last Wednesday, I tested positive for Covid,” Rivera wrote in a tweet. “Symptoms minimal – mostly scratchy throat that disappeared in hours – never any fever or loss of taste.”

His punctuation left it unclear whether he got the booster shot or the positive test result last Wednesday, Dec. 29.

Rivera, 78, said his wife and daughter have both tested negative. In the tweet, he included a drawing in which his wife was quoted, speaking to his daughter: “Stay away from Daddy, honey. He’s infectious.”

Rivera has consistently broken with his Fox News colleagues and recommended COVID vaccinations. He has ripped “contemptible…vaccinated commentators urging their unvaccinated followers to fight (and die) for their freedom.”

More than 1 million people in the U.S. tested positive for COVID on Monday, the most by far of any day since the pandemic began.
