Birmingham UK poised for one of it’s biggest nights of the year as the Inspiration Awards hits town on a night of inspiration and celebration.

On Saturday the 11h of November at the Birmingham ICC something quite special is about to take place.  The Birmingham Inspiration Awards.  What makes this event all the more interesting and powerful is that is ‘by the people for the people’.  I am sure many of the big media moguls and businesses are scratching their heads wondering, how did this get so big and slip right under our radar for so long?  How was something like this done and we did not do it?  The basic truth of the matter is that something like this can rarely be done by the super big boys or the media moguls like ‘Simon Cowell’.  These types of events need to be thought out and brought to life by Mavericks not tied down to the same rules as everyone else (Commerical constraints and TV schedules).  That is the only way something a little different can be done and that is the way the Birmingham Inspiration Awards has come about.

Why England Fans singing ‘Swing Low’ Negro spiritual should not bother anyone!

We live in an age where you need to little to cause offence to someone else. In fact one would almost be forgiven for thinking that there is little one can honestly say that will not offend someone somewhere in the media or even in everyday life. You can blame this on the fact that we become a more clued up and aware society, or you can put it down to the simple fact that people these days are far more fragile take almost everything to heart and cannot stomach any type of critique or disagreement, so everyone has to stay in the safe zone of ‘Political correctness’. Whatever your thoughts I believe that England rugby fans chanting (As they do) Swing Low sweet Chariot’ to spur on the England Rugby team at games is no reason for anyone to get their ‘Knickers in a twist’ about.

Why Roots on BBC4 is a must watch for everyone.

It took way too long for the Remake of Alex Haley’s Roots to hit the UK and then only to be aired on BBC4. When I first heard about it I was not impressed. The original was one of those things like ‘Star Wars’ woven into my past that should not be messed with. How could they improve on what was at the time and remains today one of the best TV shows of all time?

Making a difference: Head of ZuluLand Gospel Choir Mr Banda helps hundreds of kids get shoes for school in Africa.

It may to us in the West seem like such a simple thing. Shoes for our children to go to school. However in many parts of the world something we take for granted, Shoes, are in rare supply and many children amble to school bare footed or with extremely worn out footwear.

When you think of the Billions donated by the UK and other Western countries of which the UK is probably the highest giver, you wonder where all the money is going? It will always remain the case that giving starts at home and local rather than National or International giving is the way forward.

The Greatest of all time - Muhammad Ali

We always knew we were cool, but Muhammed Ali made the whole world see it and he showed us how to use it.

The greatest of all time has passed, and it would be easy to just join the hundreds of celebrities, politicians and public figures eulogising about Muhammad Ali, but I won’t I want to give you my own personal take on what this man did, and meant to US ad by us I mean Black Men and Women, but more so the Black Man. We always had a strong sense of who we were and how cool we were, but we were never able to truly display it to the world until Muhammad Ali gave us the ticket, the strength and the know how to do so.
